California Speedster Recaps Columbus Visit, Details Buckeyes Offer and Where Things Stand
COLUMBUS, OHIO — The Buckeyes have been hosting some top-notch talent in Columbus for camps. Quite a few have left Ohio State with an offer. One of those is 2027 Three-Star WR Blake Wong out of Norco, California. He spoke to The Buckeye Tribune about the offer and more.
The 6’2 195lbs WR was impressive in camp, which led to him earning the offer. He described his reaction to the offer, “I was very excited to receive this offer, I’ve been working very hard for this one. It meant a lot.” The Buckeyes have become a top school for Wong, “It impacts my recruitment a lot because Ohio State is one of the top schools for me.”
He spoke highly about Ohio State, “It’s the winning culture and tradition of the program. Also, the fact that Ohio State is the best at developing receivers.” Wong also talked about getting coached by Brian Hartline and Devin Jordan, “I’ve loved being able to get coached up by coach Hartline and coach Jordan.” He even brought up his playstyle and the scheme fit he sees, “I have pride in myself of being a versatile receiver being able to play outside and inside. I think I can fit into this system well.“
Furthermore, Wong spoke about what he is looking for in his next home. Wong said, “I want to find a place where I can develop into the best player I can be and the best person I can be. My relationships with my coaches are very important to me too.” Those align very well with the Buckeyes’ strengths.
Wong is planning on getting to Columbus for a game this fall. He just has to figure out his schedule.
He plans on committing around this time next year, but it could happen sooner. He said, “But if the situation is right I can make a decision earlier. It’s a decision that I would talk to my family about and pray about.”
