Ohio State Football Recruiting: 2027 Four-Star Safety Kaleb Elkins talks Buckeyes, Recent Visit
Four-star 2027 safety Kaleb Elkins recaps Ohio State visit, shares impressions, and future visit plans
COLUMBUS, OHIO — The Buckeyes have been busy offering many prospects this summer at their summer camps. Meanwhile, 2027 Four-Star Safety Kaleb Elkins from Indiana has already been offered before he camped. He spoke to The Buckeye Tribune about Ohio State and more on his recruitment.
It was his second time in Columbus on June 7th. He spoke on how it was from his last trip to now, “My recent visit was much more personal than when I visited in March. There’s a lot going on during those spring practices. This time I think I was the only 2027 defensive player in the building.” He spoke on what stood out to him, “The aspect that stood out most was having to practice against the best receivers in the country every practice. Probably a lot to do with how they got two All Americans in one season.”
He spoke on his relationship with the Buckeye Coaches, specifically Matty G, “I feel like we have a pretty good relationship. My family was there with me and we got to hangout with Coach G’s family for a bit.” He got to sit down with Head Coach Ryan Day as well, “Getting to sit down with Ryan Day was a bit surreal. I’ve seen him on tv so many times, it was crazy to be in his office talking about my future with the program.”
He spoke on the difference between Ohio State, “It’s hard to compare them to most other programs. There’s so much history and coming off a national championship. OSU is definitely one of my favorites.”
The Indiana native doesn’t plan on committing anytime soon. “Right now I’m just enjoying the process. I don’t see myself committing before the end of the upcoming season.” He spoke on why that is, “My family and I will sit down and decide what situation is best for me to reach my goals of having a successful college and NFL career.”
Elkins has slowly seemed to become a top target for Matt Guerrieri in the 2027 Recruiting Class. Elkins would blend perfectly in the scarlet & grey. Especially due to his athleticism. The Buckeyes aren’t the only school involved though. Schools like Penn State, Michigan, Maryland, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and many others are trying to land the talented safety.
